Lessons

When teaching, I try to meet students where they’re at in regards to their goals and interests. With beginners I place an emphasis on making music as quickly as possible, while gradually introducing new techniques and musical concepts. I like to encourage and challenge advanced players to grow into more balanced musicians and dig deeper in their development of specific skills.

I have myself learned from Bill Keith, Tony Trischka, Peter Rowan, Roland White, Leon Hunt, Jayme Stone, and others. I love seeking out and the knowledge and wisdom of older generations. I have an open mind towards music on the banjo, and am equally at home talking about jazz theory on the banjo as I am with exploring classic breaks from the 1950's.

Whether you’d like to learn more about how music works, develop your ear, or fine tune your technique, I’m confident I can help you further along your musical path. I teach via Zoom and in-person in Brighton, MA. Please feel free to get in touch via the contact page if you’d like to talk more about lessons.
